I am tempted to write "It may at least seem strange that we have
reached such a technical level and then retreated, giving credence to
the conspiracists". But probably it's not that strange, and
historical examples abound. Who says progress has to be monotonic?
As for the conspiracy theories, all forms of healthy behavior have
pathological counterparts, and healthy skepticism parallels
pathological paranoia. Though most of the time one has the feeling
seemingly willfully stupid people are just that ... they only do it to
annoy. :-/
So answer the question about the Van Allen belt. Why are you changing
