#1. Parrot's oratory stuns scientists
         (By Alex Kirby)

Feathered prodigy: N'kisi leads the field
The finding of a parrot with an almost unparalleled power to
communicate with people has brought scientists up short.
The bird, a captive African grey called N'kisi, has a vocabulary of
950 words, and shows signs of a sense of humour.

He invents his own words and phrases if he is confronted with novel
ideas with which his existing repertoire cannot cope - just as a
human child would do.

N'kisi's remarkable abilities, which are said to include telepathy,
feature in the latest BBC Wildlife Magazine.

#2. Deridder Roadkill: A genuine cryptid?
         (By Matt Posner)

Welcome to another article about cryptid photos. Last time I looked
at four photos that had been posted on the internet as images of
chupacabras, and concluded that none of them depicted a cryptid, or
scientifically unproven species. (see:Do They Suck?
) This time around I will look at only two pictures: one of
them another sometime chupacabras candidate called the Deridder
Roadkill, and the other one a picture of a sometime lake monster
called Chan.

Was JFK Killed Because Of Roswell? (by Doug Yurchey) 'Who killed President Kennedy?' is the ultimate of all conspiracies. Why was the young, American leader gunned down in November of 1963? The Roswell Incident has been around longer than the Kennedy mystery, but it is this question of who murdered Jack that is imbedded in the conscious mind of every baby-boomer. Those who remember the 50s know where they were when they heard that President Kennedy got shot. (I was let out of junior high school like the rest of America's kids). Were there multiple shooters or a lone gunman? Do we believe the party-line of a lone gunman or QUESTION what the government tells you? Who were the guilty parties in this assassination? JFK was 'killed' and 'murdered.' He was not assassinated by some 3- named, crazy lunatic. There was indeed a conspiracy which stretched to the highest realms of power and politics. Read more... ################### World Of The Strange Web Site The World Of The Strange web site is working out very well. We are pleased at how many of you have stopped in to visit and even register to gain access to our special features. We are serving over 160,000 page views per month and almost 1,800 registered site users. Visit us today and spread the word about the site. A great way to do that is to forward this newsletter on to others who may enjoy it. (I became involved with this newsletter because some forwarded a copy to me many years ago). We do not resell or share our user information with anyone. The information is maintained only to allow you access to the premium features for the website. http://www.worldofthestrange.com ################### #5. My Prediction For Current Mars Probes (By C. A. Honey) This will be a special publication in that it contains a prediction of things to come in regard to our proposed and current exploration of the planet Mars. I usually do not make any predictions but this time I will and then list the things that will prove or disprove my predictions. This will give me an easy out if the predictions do not come to pass but will be explained ahead of time so those engineers at JPL or at NASA will know how to avoid certain failure if they follow my guidelines on how to proceed. Anyone tracking my history over the last 50 years will know how I derive my information on subjects such as this. I don't claim to have a 100% fulfillment of my previous predictions; as such predictions have been very rare over the past 50 years. They will also know that my accuracy ratio is very high. "Nuff" said. Read more... ################### #6. Website Of The Month "The Shadowlands" (By: Louise A. Lowry (WOTS Staff)) March's Website Of Excellence Award Presented To "The Shadowlands" http://theshadowlands.net Dave Juliano, the founder has much to be happy about with his website, they have just celebrated their tenth year of being online and entertaining us with all the ghostly/ haunting stories. Shadowland provides general information on some subjects and a bit more in depth info on others as his time and experiences allow. If you read any of these pages with an open mind you should come away with a better understanding of these mysteries. While all of these subjects are laughed at or frowned upon by many, Shadowland challenges you to at least take the time to decide for yourself. This website includes text files, video, sounds, pictures, eye witness accounts and more on the pages that follow. They are always adding new information and update various pages on a monthly basis. Currently they have over 7,100 stories in their ghostly section alone. People's interest in parapsychology and healing has significantly risen in the past few years. However, science still refuses to examine the phenomenon seriously. Perhaps the only serious scientist in the post Soviet Russia is chair of social and practical psychology of Labour Academy and social relations of Ukraine Elena Karagodina who still shows tremendous interest in healers. She graduated with a degree in psychiatry and has been studying the healer"s phenomenon since 1995. Elena's doctorate work was called "Socio-Cultural Analysis of Healers and Paranorms." Commentator from "Izvenstia" Tatyana Bateneva interviews professor Elena Karagodina. Read more... ################### #9. Nazi Moon Bases (Archive newsletter article)) The Germans landed on the Moon as early as probably 1942, utilizing their larger exoatmospheric rocket saucers of the Miethe and Schriever type. The Miethe rocket craft was built in diameters if 15 and 50 meters, and the Schriever Walter turbine power ed craft was designed as an interplanetary exploration vehicle. It had a diameter of 60 meters, had 10 stories of crew compartments, and stood 45 meters high. Welcome to Alice in Saucerland. In my extensive research of dissident American theories about the physical conditions on the Moon I have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that there is atmosphere, water and vegetation on the Moon, and that man does not need a space suit to walk on the Moon. A pair of jeans, a pullover and sneakersare just about enough. Everything NASA has told the world about the Mood is a lie and it was done to keep the exclusivity of the club from joinings by the third world countries. All these physical conditions make it a lot easier to build a Moonbase. Ever since their first day of landing on the Moon, the Germans started boring -and tunneling under the surface, and by the end of the war there was a small Nazi research base on the Moon. Read more... ################### Sponsor the World Of The Strange Newsletter For less than the price of a book you can sponsor this World Of The Strange newsletter for 3 months. Show Me Heaven- Near Death Experiences (By Amanda Hancox) As more and more people come forward with accounts of near-death experiences, new research is about to examine the out of body experience to see whether mind and body really do separate at the point of death. It is only 30 years ago that the term near-death experience was coined. An American researcher, Raymond Moody, used it to describe the reports of a large number of people who, whilst apparently dead, had seen deceased relatives, tunnels of light, life reviews and felt an overwhelming sense of peace, before being resuscitated. Read more... ################### #11. Cops say 'oink' to green-clad terror The Jakarta Police announced on Monday that the talk-of-the-town kolor hijau (green underwear) creature -- believed to be a creature that is half-man and half-pig -- does not in fact exist and is only a rumor. In an apparent move to curb disquiet among certain sections of the public, the police announced a third suspect in the case -- Nurmah, 22, a housewife from Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. She reported to Jagakarsa Police on Sunday evening that she had been attacked by the kolor hijau who, she claimed, ripped her T-shirt and scratched her with his claws. Read more... ################### Web Site Creation and/or Hosting Would you like an Interactive website that uses the same or similar technology as WorldOfTheStrange.com uses for your company or personal use? Notable Febuary Close Encounters in History (Compiled by: TJ Elias) 1997-03-13; USA, Arizona, Phoenix Phoenix March 1997 UFO 'Scared the Hell' Out Of Scrambled F-15 Pilot The following text is the edited transcript of a conversation that took place between Peter B. Davenport, Director of the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, and a person who telephoned the Center at 0320 hrs. (Pacific) on Friday morning, March 14, 1997. The caller asserted that he had just been personal witness to an intercept of a very large craft by two U. S. Air Force McDonnell- Douglas F-15c fighters directly above downtown Phoenix, Arizona, at approximately 2035 hrs. on Thursday, March 13, 1997. Read more
-- 1964-03-19; Penkridge, UK According to a U.S.Naval Officer working on a spyship, he read a coded message that a UFO overflying Europe, for reasons unknown, malfunctioned and plummeted to Earth. Whether by accident or design, as the UFO descended, it broke into two parts - the chief section of which crashed at Penkridge, Staffordshire, while "the remains" hurtled on until they smashed into the ground somewhere in West Germany. Read more
-- 1953-03-23; USA, California, Tujunga Canyons The Tujunga Canyon Abductions We often think that the alien abduction phenomenon began in 1961 with the abduction of Betty and Barney Hill. There's an abduction story that predates the Hills by several years in the happening, if not in the telling. It began on March 22, 1953 in the Tujunga Canyons area, a rather isolated wilderness area north of Los Angeles. In 1975, two women given the pseudonyms of Sara Shaw and Jan Whitley went to the NICAP UFO investigation organization, where they told a story of twenty-three years of UFO and alien abduction experiences. They had finally decided to tell their story because abductions and "missing time" experiences had begun to appear in the media. The experiences began for the two on that night in 1953 when the two, who lived together in an isolated cabin in the Tujunga area, were awakened by a bright light outside their cabin. A "missing time" loss of two hours also occurred, and the two young women were frightened enough to flee their cabin. Read more
-- 1945-03-00; USA, Maine, Belfast In March 1945 near Belfast, Maine a man out hunting observed an elongated object flying very slowly, tilted toward the earth. It crashed into some trees at the end of a clearing. The enormous craft seemed undamaged as it rested briefly on the ground, then lifted again with a humming sound, started to spin, released a shower of fine silvery threads, and rose straight up, disappearing in seconds.
-- 1941-03-00; USA, Missouri, Cape Girardeau A Virginia man is investigating the possibility that a UFO crashed near Cape Girardeau in 1941. "That would be six years before Roswell," said James Westwood of Centreville, Va., referring to the 1947 incident in which the government allegedly recovered and then covered up a UFO crash in New Mexico. "That would put Cape Girardeau County on the UFO map." he said. Read more
-- 1909-03-23; UK, England, Peterborough In the early months of 1909 an aerial horror began to haunt the imaginations of the British people. The first sighting of a phantom airship to have a major impact on the public consciousness was made by a Cambridgeshire policeman, PC Kettle. He was patrolling Cromwell Road in Peterborough on the morning of March 23 when he heard the sound of a distant motor car. As he continued to hear the steady buzz of a high power engine, he suddenly realized that the noise was coming from above. On looking up he saw a bright light attached to a long oblong body outlined against the stars. This strange aerial object crossed the sky at a high speed, and was soon lost from sight. Read more
-- 1880-03-26; USA, New Mexico, Lamy Mar. 26, 1880 Lamy (New Mexico). Four men walking near Galis- evening teo Junction were surprised as they heard voices coming from a "strange balloon," which flew over them. It was shaped like a fish and seemed to be guided by a large fanlike device. There were eight to ten figures aboard. Their language was not understood. The object flew low over Galisteo Junction and rose rapidly toward the east.
-- 1676-00-00; UNKNOWN (Halley) 1676 Edmond Hally, the astronomer who discovered Haley's comet, could recall two accounts involving unidentified crafts. His first experience was in March of, when he saw a, as he said, "Vast body apparently bigger than the moon." He estimated it at 40 mi. above him. He also stated that it made a noise, "Like the rattling of a great cart over stones." After estimating the distance it traveled in a matter of minutes, he came to the conclusion that it moved at a speed greater than 9,600 m.p.h.
