I believe thats its shiny side out. The only time your relatively safe is when
they turn it off during the public tours of the base. As you know they
suspended them for the winter due to the construction of the new four lane
divided highway replacing the old Groom Lake Rd. I believe that the tours will
resume in May sometime as the weather gets better. Last year they did them the
third Wednesday of the month thru Labor Day. I havent seen the new dates posted
yet but Iam sure they will be posted to the bases web site. Hope this helps
