Yeah, how about you try Divx or Xvid there cheif. Most people won't
touch MS codecs with a ten foot pole.
And if you want a good way to distribut the content, make the users help
you. Set up a BitTorrent seed. Sell the link to the seed.

I coproduced the Terence McKenna movie, "Psychedelics in the Age of
Intelligent Machines." with HPX in Seattle.
This was the last public appearence talk by McKenna, made in 1999. Our
video is quite psychedelic, as was the event.
We are looking into creating an inexpensive way to distribute this
1hour,26 minute
movie to the world by placing a downloadable movie on the web.
Inexpensive for the viewer too, as a pay-per-download to your
computer.
Web download movie service is not free, actually quite expensive for
the bandwidth rates for such large files. We want to get the costs
down for web movies.
So, as a market test we are putting a WindowsMedia9 movie file in
resultion
240x320 on a CD-R and mailing the CD to people. The whole movie fits
onto the disc in WindowMedia9 format.
It looks good.
To play it you need a WindowsMedia9 player which can be downloaded
free from
Microsoft for most PC's. However Mac need OS-X operating system.
You can download a sample for free from
http://www.surrealstudio.com and test WindowsMedia9 player on your
machine.
