For as puzzling as the disappearances have been in the Bermuda
Triangle, it looks like we may never get at the whole idea of what has
happened there. However, I want to throw these fresh ideas on the
table to encourage some serious analysis.

Let's suppose that the area in question has more than one reason for
"mysterious disappearances" operating at any given time. Some examples
might include people escaping (deliberate evasion) to fake their death
for insurance money; pirates/hijackers; and squalls & storms.

I am aware that there have been disappearances of aircraft that were
flying over the area, but I am primarily focusing on the boats &
ships.

And so, because very large vessels were also reported missing in the
area, my feeling is that the ocean itself functions strangely in that
area.

Earlier this night, I was looking into Abrupt Climate Change and found
a world map of the major oceanic currents at
http://www.whoi.edu/institutes/occi/currenttopics/abruptclimate_mcmanus_pr_en1.html

when it appeared odd that the current takes such a tight turn near
Florida. And remembering the accounts of the Bermuda Triangle, it
suddenly occured to me to attempt to locate a map of the Gulf Stream.
After a lot of searching, I found a good map at
http://www.weatherimages.org/data/imag142.html

Now if we superimpose the image of the Triangle
(http://www.cat.cc.md.us/~mpowers/tmbt.html) over the course of the
Gulf Stream, and these over the major ocean currents, what do we see?

The Gulf Stream (a very large river that runs through the ocean)
passes over the cold saline deep current. But does it always?

I have read of huge upwellings of water standing hundreds of feet high
and measuring over 1/4 mile in diameter which were witnessed by
aircraft pilots in the area.

It seems to me that the deep current sometimes moves to or increases
in size to travel through a more shallow depth. It also seems that the
Gulf Stream may impact this transection and the two may produce giant
upwellings which are capable to capsize even the largest of sea
vessels, and to plunge them down entirely to great depths. I also
expect from looking at these maps that the vessels are carried out
into the deep ocean by the deep saline current, or are dragged down to
the bottom in a swirl and held inside the tight bend of the deep
saline current. There is no flotsam to be found because the strength
of the currents sweep them away below the surface.

That is my idea of a possible explanation for the disappearances of
sea going vessels.

About evasion, pirates, etc., I would say those may be other causes
for the disappearances, which would not be ruled out in every
instance.
