interestingly , a few words of my post
have mysteriously changed ....... different
from what I wrote and different from " my "
copy on this end .......

in one place caliente bodfish road was changed to
" clientele bonefish " and in the paragraph before my sig ,
doooooooode was changed to " doorkeeper " .

the spacing on a few of my words was altered too, from my original
copy of the post , on this end.

dunno how that happened ..... someone playing I guess ....... odd
.....

Since Hawthorn is on the BRAC list, I doubt there anything too secret
there.

some people say it's the army weapons supply depot at hawthorne
on the list, not the ( much larger ) naval underseas weapons testing
labs and the naval nuke storage ( 40 stories under ground there )
facilities. not exactly sure myself. the naval weapons site is the
2nd largest weapons storage site in the entire world..... only
bested by a site in the Russian Steps. it used to be in New
Jersey and a site accident killed 100s of people back in the early
60s. after that , it was moved to hawthorne. some of the most secret
weapons testing in the US is done there. missile carriers and
tomahawks are all over the place. it's a no fly zone too.
the massive ( but not as big as the naval installation ) army
munitions storage location is in the mountains , due west of
downtown hawthorne a few miles. easily seen on the sat maps.
the much larger naval site is east of hawthorne , from the edge of
town and out about 20 miles or more. it's massive square miles
of unused bunkers. everything moved under ground in the 80's there.
the dirt they took out of the ground is found a few miles n.w. of
town, it's so large , at first it looks like a mountain before you
see the bulldozers. that place is pretty big and new to be closing
down for real. a pretty busy place to shut down.

that area I mentioned is not too near the hawthorne base , it's at
n. 38.245917 , w 118.63921 on the acme map site. something
large and unusual looking buried there . the security in this place
is surprisingly high. just loitering nearby, taking pictures, will
usually bring the cammo dudes and the black chopper in a hurry.
those white looking items at the canyon entrance is some of that
" space " looking intrusion equipment I was mentioning.
seismic intrusion stuff is buried all over the place , esp along the
fence areas and little care was taken to hide it. all of it seems to
be solar powered.

That website is just a mess. Give me one waypoint and I'll try to
check it out in person. I never saw the RCS in Tehachapi, so I could
check it out at the same time.

as close as you can get is to go east out of Tehachapi , on the
highway 4 miles and turn off and go north on Sand Canyon Road.
nice paved sand canyon road suddenly dead ends into the padlocked
QMR business. the base is directly behind the QMR business and
extends north 10 miles and continues west another 12 miles or so.
( about 120 sq miles of installations )
this equates to the right most and lower most area on
the Tehachapi base map on the web site. it's a large green square ,
two purple squares and two yellow squares on the site map. the two
purple squares are on sand canyon road. the QMR was not there
when the site pics were taken. there are two other roads into the
120 sq mile area. one off caliente bodfish road , from the north,
and a dirt road from the east. both these roads have posted farms
blocking them , ala Rachel. remember that this is a " private "
and not a government installation and they " don't " play by the
same rules.

you might scale the cliffs on the east side of clientele bonefish
road
and hike east to get a look. there is a fair to mid d'in chance that
you can get seriously hurt if you approach any of those automated
intrusion protection devices too close ........ carefully look out
for them if they are there. ( better safe than sorry )
when you go up sand canyon road, you can turn right onto a dirt
road that borders the QMR complex ( at the QMR front gate )
..... shortly down that road is a turn out to stop and view some of
the QMR and ( supposed ) base area .

looking forward to some pics doorkeeper . good luck ......
be careful and don't break any laws. those attack guard dog
signs on QMR are the real mccoy ....... they have a " serious "
array of guard dogs there on the QMR site.

I can also steer you to an interesting government / military
" biological " testing valley , east of why 6 , north of Bishop and
east into Nb. it has a large collection of " test " animals in a
wooden coral and an amazing " giant " solar powered,
automated organic lab testing station built there. looks like the
whole ( small ) valley is used as part of the site. it runs west to
east there, and has a VERY stiff wind blowing ( every time I've been
there ) east . up the road ( west ) a few miles is a " so called "
government agriculture " testing " station. all with large fences and
warning signs. also patrolled by the cam mo dudes in white pickup
trucks. supposedly the government keeps a large array of
" natural " biological agents there . dun no what they do with them ,
tho....... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .
