hummmmm .... then what do you call the fields from sun, sun  spots +
what do you  think the aurora actually is if not magnetic waves ?  if
magnetic waves don't propagate then how does a compass work ?

like I said you have to abandon what you know about 
circuits that use wires , to understand circuits that do not use wires
for resonance.  ( the world of  ultrasonic transducers is the same way
, they use resonant crystals instead of wires or rods )  .......

If you were over a tunnel and there was nothing in the tunnel, I don't
see how you would detect radio waves. The notion of use VLF is higher
frequencies don't travel well through earth. If you look up radio
systems for caving, they are VLF based.

well ....... tunnels  ( except for old mines ) are usually NEVER quite
empty ...... they always have electrical lighting systems in them 
( which use ac power for the regular bulbs and dc power for the
emergency  lighting systems ) . many tunnels  also have electrical
transport car systems , computer wires  and other sources of
electrical fields. 
what I said about VLF was that , below 1600 hz,  radio waves can't
bounce  long distances using  the atmosphere . they can only
go (  more or less ) straight and don't hop around the planet. below
1600hz , radio waves travel through the " earth " VERY well , 
in fact thats how submarine communications systems work. 
thats also why cavers use ULF. that is what I  actually said.

yep ...... thats what I said there ..... a LOT of the a51 tunnels
extend into places that cross public roads  , LOTS .....  
thats why I gave you the location of one that is " crammed " full of
activity and interesting signals in my last post.  it's a place you
have been before , I think ... probably many times.  
( read the stuff above about pointing ferrtie rods too ) 
you can use your ULF receiver there , and hear a 
BUNCH of computer signals , that as you know can't have come from
anywhere else but where you are, when you hear them. 
tune between 22khz and  150 khz to find the signals.
just like when you tune those freqs at home and hear dozens of your
neighbor's computers ...... you'll be surprised to hear them there
too. drive off , up toward the junction a 1/2  mile and your
receiver will go dead ..... no computer signals at all.
give it a try ....... and be surprised at how easy it is . 
also , remember that ULF waves propagate through the earth
VERY well as you have noted ..... what you are listening to doesn't
actually have to be directly below either. you can point the rods at
angles or " trace " signals you are finding by pointing the  rod 
down ( notice how the rod pictures on the alt.binaries.a51 show that
rod on a el / az precision mount for accurate pointing ? )   and
actually trace a   lighting wire  circuit along the tunnel walls. 
the tunnel I have mentioned travels ( below the spot I mentioned )
ne to sw .... straight towards  yucca mountain if you draw the lines
on a local  map.  


I was told of a  " supposed " tunnel that travels south out near  the
air base up the road to NTS and  goes all the way into Las Vegas.
these friends are very reliable but I also like to find out for
myself.  I parked , where they said , and started setting up my
equipment and  a air force white truck " and " a  cammo dude
suv  pulled up and " asked ' me to leave " immediately " . 
ha ah aha ah a   I was on " perfectly legal public  federal
land too.   I was alone and decided to comply " immediately "
as they said ..... later on I cleaned my shorts,  back at the pyramid.
