I'll agree with Brian that it is probably not an engine test. The photo
he provided is n747GE, which is found at MVH.

I'll also agree it is not the ABL. The only time I've seen things
mounted on the wing (rather than fit into the nose or tail) are items
to be launched. A good example is that B-52 used by NASA.
Thanks for pointing it out as I generally don't read that forum. Way
too many adverts. There have been cases where some shill tries to keep
the discussion going just to up the hits. Shameful puts it mildly,
since that website does little research on its own, which is where the
real expense comes in. I don't think the server cost equals what I pay
in gas for one trip to the ranges.
BTW, if you go to the southern viewing area at EDW, you can see the
cabin of the ABL "design" aircraft popping out the back of a building.

Download the panorama (something I really just slopped together, not
even using a tripod let alone a telescope). To the left of the large
round tank (not show in the photo since it is old) is where the plane
nose shoots out of the building. The large tank is used to create an
atmosphere similar to 40kft, which is where the ABM laser will be used.
The nice thing about snooping on EDW from the south is that you are in
LA county. Thus in theory base security, which is really Kern county
SD, can't "visit" with you. ;-) [I often camp out just past the Nye
county line so the Lincoln county SD can't mess with me. ]
