I've never been to Myer, but the last time I was

The few times I've been on a military base the guards seemed to be a
combination of military and contract. Most of the contract police were
there mainly for traffic control at the busier gates. The bases were Navy
at Norfolk, Portsmouth and Great Lakes and I was with my sailor daughter in
her car so there was never any problem. The only time post 9/11 we only
went to the Exchange, where security is not as strict as it is in the base
proper. We didn't take a tour of the piers, as security there was quite
high.
