Going nuclear would be a disaster for the US. I was thinking more along
the lines of delivering the pig of a bomb.

You can look up the Davey Crocket bomb for a launch-able nuke. There
was at least one launched from a larger gun, so the triggering isn't a
problem.

"Hollywood's Top secret film studio" DVD shows the launch.

Yeah, sure glad we don't have any religious zealots running the US. ;-)

LOL! I find it unbelievable that they can easily see the problems
religion causes in -other- govenments... but can't see it here. We
must have the "right" God on our side. You know, the one who never
errs and tells all his secrets to GHWB... right after he imparts them
to Pat Robertson and Orel Roberts. Fuckin' nutballs, the lot of 'em.

A gun would have to get mighty close. However, as an intellectual
exercise, lets look at what I think is the biggest payload rocket ever
built, the Saturn 5. [Don't quote me on that one.] Googling, its
payload is 142 tons if it has to reach orbit. Now what I don't know is
could you make a supersized missile that would travel a few hundred
miles and deliver 700 tons. It doesn't seem that far fetched.

I was thinking more of popping one of those nuclear 105 rounds onto a
"bunker buster" and lettin' 'er rip. I don't know how someone might
manufacture a fuse that would survive impact and delay detonation for
the moment it's going to take to get significant penetration though.
But, IME, the feds have some pretty smart people working for them and
they're "reportedly" already worked that out.
