hey lumpy ...........

got a " crew of people " together
for a return visit to the TCUB ...

The RV park website is SK.
What's there now?

the RV park is still there , the entrance gate is VERY well maintained
( for a place that is closed and run down ) and the road and entrance
gates shows a LOT of heavy usage. the guest lodges and rec center
etc. are still quite obviously empty and abandoned . my general
impression of the place is that it's seen a lot of activity since I
was there last , that especially for a place that is closed up.

that ....... plus we discovered several more places just like the RV
park .... one place with " large heavy walls supporting a heavy set
of gates " just like quail meadows ( the rv park ) . the walls ,
gates and even the lettering on the walls all done by the same people
as quail meadows. these are Home Estates, Home Ranches etc.
all closed and padlocked just like quail meadows. interestingly
enough , this place ( like quail meadows ) is built on
the side of rough mountain access roads and placed so that it'd be
pretty much impossible to get by or around it. driving ( or even
hiking ) around them not possible. just like quail meadows, these
additional places have a bunch of well maintained roads that go up
into the mountains and cannot be seen properly from the lower places
that can be accessed. some of these places show heavy machinery and
other signs of heavy usage, but are located in drastically isolated
remote places, places that clearly wouldn't likely be used for what
they claim them to be.

in one of the gated and locked " Estates " places, there were a
number of heavy trucks doing something that looked to be
inside the side of the mountain and on a couple of flat, cleared
off places ..... large amounts of containers, equipment and stuff
that pretty much looked like a meth lab storage / disposal area.

my impression is that all that is going on is NOT a government
operation , nor is it some large private contractor as well. the "
money quotient " is WAY off as much of the hardware , trucks
and equipment that is being actively used is quite old, run down
and dilapidated. not the sort of stuff you'd expect the government or
contractors to use . more like a poor low budget mining operation
that you'd see over by Silver Peak or something like that.

Did you get near the State Park?

the state park is a reservations only site that is closed off to the
general public. it is on one of the two roads that have heavy, large
state installed warning signs . these signs are no trespassing signs
and have strong warnings about going past them. we did not find
unmarked "back doors " into these two areas. ( interesting huh ? )
that , plus there are zillions of strong warning signs about not going
off road or riding off road vehicles around there too.

That area that looked like a normal farm house -
"Visitor intake center"?

the trail head for the Tomo-Kahni SHP ( what park ? ha ha ah)
starts in the location marked " F " on this map and the trail winds
down to about the place marked " G" . the indian artifacts , ruins
etc.... are all down at " G " and all around to the east ( in the
draw ) from there ( this , as I understand it ). it's not well
publicized to keep people from looting and damaging the site .
