hey miso ..........

how far have you worked you way into the area east of mud lake in
the ralston valley before you hit the fences ?? or possibly the area
around prospects mine for a look at " things " ??

Based on the photo and info from CLUI, I believe the base owns the land
east of Mud Lake. West of Mud looks fine, though of course this time
of year is not a good time to drive on dry lakes.

Do you have a particular lat/lon in mind?

just wondered if you had tried to drive down from near the airport
area in tonopah on those roads towards the mud lake area to get some
looks at the red flag stuff.

I have driven around the TPH airport, but not towards the mud lake. I
suppose I should invest a few petrodollars doing this once. The only
claim to fame about Mud Lake is an X15 (I think) crash, but it is on
the restricted part of the lake.

Watching Red Flag from the TTR is a binary event. It wil be
unbelievably good, or a waste of time. Watching the heavies fly around
there is a sight to behold. I'm not sure they play around the lake.

also ......... do you have that map of the red flag boundaries
( the one with the two " no fly " areas on it ) posted on the
web anywhere ? I had the one from the discovery channel on my DVR
but accidently recorded over it and wanted to get another copy .

These are the waypoints.

I can convert these to a KMZ sometime.

Here it is over a topo map:

I don't have the official map scanned.

wonder if you have done much hanging out in the s.e. section of the
red flag areas also. places like heading up the road in the valley
west of the desert national ( and east of the boundary fence line )
wildlife area , to get some looks at red flag activities in this
area .....

The route along the DNW is blocked in the middle. [This may not be the
case anymore.] That is, the route is washed out. I have driven the
eastern portion of the road. You don't see much. There are the barrels
with the numbers on them, so perhaps even out there they have ground
sensors.

if you have been up there , wonder how those roads are
and if a 2whd truck could drive them ?

The DNW is a 4wd area for sure. The roads are rougher than the trip to
Tikaboo.

to places like this ........ right on the fence line ......

I haven't been on the western portion of the road. If you are going to
mess around in the DNW, you really should hike up Hayford Peak. I plan
on doing that in the summer. There will still be snow there in the
spring.

thanks

thanks for the info ...........
