And what's the deal with Labou Flats, are those some (huge) strange bunkers or
what?
Why do the dozen or so planes seem to have been quickly abandoned (dust storm
periphery)?

it's part of a complex of sites that range from beyond Fallon NAS (
north of there ) , s.e. through the missile batteries located behind
the hill at the Hawthorne ammo dump site ..... down to and through
all Nellis areas.

it most likely , in times past ( unless they spend tons to fake it )
was an active site ...... perhaps in the WWII - Korean - Nam eras ,
but is used exclusively for training now . ( simulated enemy bases )

there are times with the skies are filled with planes interreacting
with each other from Fallon and Nellis ..... and they scream and
swoop all over the place in the Fallon - Nellis corridor.

Fallon planes swoop down and drop those red flares in the area
over the NUWTL , nearly on the ground just east of 395 , heading down
and over towards Nellis ( just minutes apart at those speeds ) .....
occasionally you see a dummy launch of a s.a.m from the area behind
the hill at the ammo dump ..... it's all pretty entertaining.

a good vantage point is sitting in your lawn chair and sipping
lemonade up on ( 7200' , 2000' above the valley floor below )
) Lucky Boy pass ( above hawthorne ) ..... where you can see for
zillions of miles both to fallon and nearly to Nellis ..... all at
the same time !

quite a show , but sometimes you need to get in early as they close
the roads ( ie: 395 ) when firing the missiles .

yea and if you would quit leaving your piles of garbage up at the mine
other people wouldn't have to clean up afterwards !
dunno what you did up there lately but the guys in white trucks
followed us halfway up the hill and " camped out " the whole time we
were there.

sorry about that guy. we were up there in the Bounder and the kids
left it . we went back several weeks later and it was gone.
you must have cleaned it up. we have tried to keep it like we find
it, I apologize for that. we appreciate your generosity, tell
B that we are sorry for messing up her mine site. we did take a few
souvenirs from the large tailings pile , but she said we could take
those.

I think we attracted their attention by being around your favorite
place down the road. we even had a chopper harassing us one evening
while we were camping up on the hill. scared the kids to death . a
little bit touchy aren't they ? I wonder why they don't get in your
face like they do us, ha ha !!!

are you going to post a few of your pictures ? I'm sure the people
here would like to see a couple of those ! you are free to put them
up on my 37mm site if you want . ...bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk....
(chicken cluking....)
