It was the first test as part of the "Plowshare" program.
Later, they NUKED Underground near DULCE, N.M. (Project "Gasbuggy").

The Plowshare Program was created in the late fifties to explore the
possible use of nuclear explosive devices for "peaceful uses".

>From 1961-73, researchers carried out 27 separate experiments under
Project Plowshare, setting off 35 nuclear detonations.
Most of the tests were conducted at the Nevada Test Site,
but some were also conducted in New Mexico and Colorado.

Beyond the Nevada Test Site (NTS), nuclear testing activities were
conducted at eight locations in five different states as part of the
Nuclear Weapons Testing, the Vela Uniform, and the Plowshare
Programs.  As part of the Plowshare Program, nuclear tests were
conducted at two sites near Rifle, Colorado (Rulison and Rio Blanco),
southwest of Dulce, New Mexico (Project Gasbuggy),
and near Carlsbad, New Mexico (Project Gnome-Coach).

As part of the Vela Uniform Program, nuclear tests were conducted near
Fallon, Nevada (Project Shoal), on Amchitka Island, Alaska (Project
Long Shot), and near Hattiesburg, Mississippi, (Projects Salmon and
Sterling).

Project Gnome
The nuclear device was emplaced 1,184 feet underground in bedded salt
at the end of a 1,116 ft hooked tunnel.  The Gnome device was
detonated with a yield of 3.1 kilotons.
The NUKE created a massive HOLLOW Cavity.

Re-entry excavation began six days after the test, and the cavity was
entered about 6 months later on May 17, 1962.
Re-entry was through an underground tunnel excavated parallel to the
original one.
The roughly hemispheric cavity measuring 160-170 feet in diameter
(larger than the base of the dome of the U. S. Capitol building) and
60-80 feet high (equivalent to a 7-8 story building) is shown in the

So, after all, some rumors of artificially create "underground caverns
or hollow cavities" and "underground bases" or "underground facilties"
may not necessarily be just the figment of people's imaginations?

maybe the government may have thought of using nukes to build tunnels
way back in the late 40's - early 50s ...... but they soon discovered
that there were FAR better ways to make tunnels and underground 
caverns and using nukes were impractical.

the problem with nukes is that they cause a massive heat  ball
underground that liquifies the surrounding rock and then after it
cools  it hardens again and leaves  massive amounts of super
radioactive rock behind. this environment cannot support human
habitation for any extended periods of time without removing the 
radioactivity.  removing the  large amount of  impacted  hot materials
is impractical , this especially when FAR better  and less expensive
methods  exist.  

if what has happened in the underground at the NTS is any example
, and they have the largest  web of underground nuke tunnels in the
world ,  the government is almost certainly  NOT using nukes to make
tunnels , nor are they living in ( or even anywhere nearby ) any
holes made by nukes.

this is not to say that there are not tunnels, as there are hundreds
of miles of known tunnels and very probably many times more than that 
which are unknown to the general public.

all this aside ........ the fact remains that underground complexes
can and should be related to large sky scraper office buildings 
which are inverted and stuck in the ground  ........

neither can exist without " support logistics " ( water supplies ,
sewage services , havc, plant operations / operators and tons
more  ) ,  security services , and materials management  (  
pencils, paper, desks, cleaning people ,  food, shelter and tons more
in this cat as well ) 

ALL known  secret underground bases ( world wide ) are RIFE with the
evidence of the above mentioned services, supplies and equipment and
support  ...... there is NO evidence  of anything WHAT SO EVER in the
vicinity of Dulce , Nm that  would support claims of  an underground
base activity ..... 


like it or not, so far in  all practical experience with so called "
secret underground bases , there is no experience that even remotely
suggests that a base can exist without being discovered because of the
above mentioned reasons.  there can be plenty of " rabbit holes "
..... which are just plain holes in the ground that may have storage
rooms and tunnels but  are not inhabited and even many of those 
( like the ones that store nuclear materials ) must have some
rudimentary forms of havc  ( to filter and vent radioactive gasses
given off by ALL nuclear materials ) , plant operations ( electrical
grid supplies or generators , fuel etc ) and other types of support
services ( water table boring and testing for migration, lung
xrays of people that work there, medical testing and on and on and on
) ....... 

not that it will stay this way forever .... times and things change
.... but a wise person might consider  the existence of 
 totally " secret " undetectable underground bases in the same
category as flying saucers and aliens.  maybe they exist , maybe not
.. but there is NOT  ONE SINGLE MICROSCOPIC shred of evidence in
civilian hands that proves they exist ..  undetectable underground
bases ( especially ) included !   aliens, ( alien ) flying saucers and
large inhabited undetectable underground bases currently remain in the
realm of  " folk lore ,  the hypothetical and  the mythical.  

consider that FAR more people will argue ( to the death even ) that
god and jesus exists  than  will " ever " argue that aliens and
undetectable underground bases exist .  far more  by a factor of a
magnitude  " absolutely know " they are right. 


hint: think misinformation and misdirection for about 99% of the 
bogus crap you read about on the web and in the news ....the
government 
buys professors and news releases by the zillions .. and has for 
a couple hundred of years  ......... heck , look at the army of
doctors and scientists that argue ( for the christians ) that 
absolutely, beyond any shadow of doubt,  that the earth is 
no more than 6000 years old .... no possibilities of being wrong
what so ever  !

.....  perhaps a little  acme satellite  fun , in parts of wyoming and
central colorado , might  be rewarding and  fruitful , currently,  to
your  interests ...... washington state as well to  a lesser degree (
more difficult to find )  .........  if you want to spend the hours
you can really be rewarded  with something that is more than shadow
puppets ... 


of course if you are just another paid cog in the disinformation mill 
( and you seem like a serious guy to me and not a flake ) 
..... then none of this means anything to you .....
