Greetings,
Before I left for vacation in mid-july there was an interesting thread going on started by Miso
about some links to new pix he had posted. Showed what looked like "targets" on a hillside.
Now I can't find them. Have they somehow been removed? I wanted to read if there'd been
any further discussion in the last month or so.

I don't think there was any update. I'm going to make a feeble attempt
at logging a vector from my viewing location so that I can find the
drive-in theater on google earth.
http://www.lazygranch.com/ttrbig.htm
has the drive-in theater info.
I suppose while I'm at it, I should mention what other stuff I've
uncovered lately. [Of course, this is all on abovetopsecret.com] I did
a FOIA with the FAA for the navigation fixes SHOWW and FIDOE. They
could not find the location of the fixes. However, I screwed up in the
sense that the FOIA game is like "mother may I." The better question
would have been give me all information on the fixes SHOWW and FIDOE.
Anyway, I was on the phone with the FAA and determined that the fixes
FIDOE and SHOWW have no published coordinates, but they are reserved
names. Now this makes sense in that if you are using secret names for
your fixes, you wouldn't want the FAA assigning your secret name to
some real location. It could cause confusion. Anyway, one of the names
was reserved by the FAA, and the other was reserved by Nellis AFB. I'm
going to do a follow up FOIA to get more information. I don't think
the FAA has an understanding of the nature of these fixes.
Lastly, the CIA has probably been visiting Basecamp. N168D has been
filing flight plans to and from 1L1 (Lincoln County), but cancelling
at the last minute then changing to VFR. I'm guessing they are landing
at basecamp, but I can't say for sure. One flight allegedly left 1L1
at 2AM. I have never been to 1L1, so I don't know what kind of
services are there. Note this is not N196D, the plane I photographed
at Basecamp, but is similar. Basecamp is sure busy for having an x-
offed runway.
Not Groom Lake related, but this is interesting:

Yep, it was booted off giganews by MI-5 tripe.
Re: Basecamp. I would just say that if the secret detention of dangerous
multinationals in completely deniable locations were a priority of some in
our gov't. (and I'm sure it is) Than it would be hard to find a more remote or secure
facility than Groom Lake and it's environs. I'm sure I'm not the first to get that idea.
Re: nasa870. Great read. I don't know if our military/intelligence/aerospace industry
is using the fires to run waypoint tests on the new system (and fight fires too) or if
they being noble and patriotic in dedicating precious resources to the general public
good (and run waypoint tests too) - but either way I say, Ooorah!
<grin>,
