The roof doesn't look so asymmetrical as it did in other photos.

What is the small roundish shape on the nearside face about half way
along - is that part of the building?

I know what/where you mean, but don't have any more insight regarding
what is seen.  You can also "sense" something to the right of the
opening.  Viewing conditions were poor. There is another photo session
planned soon. though not by me. Maybe the recent rain cleared up the
haze.

Incidentally, this is the latest I ever photographed Groom Lake. My
previous record was mid-October. Thanks to global warming, November
was reasonable. The last base temperature I recorded was 0 deg C at
3AM (from the VOR, 117.5Mhz). The inside of my tent had condensation,
something I never experienced before, and there was frost on my tripod
bag, which was outside the tent. Otherwise, it was a relatively normal
camping experience.

The road to Tikaboo was another story. I took this with a camera
phone, so the quality is poor, but it shows one of the washouts:
