Get the cheap stuff while you can.
I'm not so sure - at least in the short term.
With the sub-prime problems in the US, I think interest rates are on
the way down stateside.
In Europe, as there aren't the same mortgage problems, and to take
into account the oil price, interest rates are going to stay
relatively high. This disparity (I think) means, money speculators
get more from having Euros than Dollars, thus the Greenback falls is
value.
Hey, but I'm no economist - only did a bit at college.
But, this low dollar could be a good thing - people like me who live
in Europe now find the US a very cheap holiday, as long as I buy US
good when I visit (and I do), this will be good for the US economy.
I've just got back from a couple of weeks stateside - I couldn't
believe how cheap stuff was, whether it be hotels, gas, it was almost
half what I pay here...
The only real problem for the US economy is if oil is sold in Euro's -
I think if this happens, it could be deep do-do for the US. I really
hope it doesn't happen, I like the US and its people, I always feel at
home when I visit.
