Well, the new compilation of SPLAT yield a smaller image. Back to the
drawing board. At least it is open source so I can hack if need be.

Even then, when evaluating LOS, it's difficult to
predict RF. Radio waves bend,
reflect, go through some objects.
I sit in my back yard on an HT and I
don't have Line Of Sight to anywhere.
Still I'm able to hit all kinds of
stations, including mobiles and other HTs
on simplex, not mountain top machines.

SPLAT! has modes to predict radio signal strength. I'm just doing line
of site for now, but the program can handle Fresnel (sp) zones and
such. There are professional programs for such modeling.

The KMZ is now corrected. Same address:

Much better results now. The big P is in the green, as is the
metropolis of Hiko. I was mistaken about Warm Springs, It turns out
the hill was north of the repeater site.

I'm still limited to 4x4, so I can't cover Tonopah from Tikaboo at 1
arcsecond.

There are dems down to 1/3 arcsecond. We're about 4 years away from
having enough ram to process it, at least with brute force
programming.
