Aircraft parts broker accused of theft

An aircraft parts broker is facing federal charges that he collected
almost $225,000 for parts and supplies never delivered to the Air
Force.

U.S. Attorney Gregory Brower said Thursday that 52-year-old Douglas
Edward Phillips III of Weston, Fla., was indicted in Las Vegas on
conspiracy to defraud the government and theft of government funds
charges.

Phillips owned Danco Aerospace Consulting Inc. Authorities say
Phillips and Richard Thomas Barkley of EG&G in Las Vegas submitted
almost $850,000 in false purchase orders and invoices.

Barkley pleaded guilty in 2007 to conspiracy, theft of government
funds and money laundering. He was sentenced to more than three years
in prison.
