These were shot out of the window of an A321 commercial flight.
Nice pictures. I wasn't so lucky back in February on a trip way, way,
way west. Besides clouds, we went north of the base and crossed the
coast at San Francisco. The trip back was at night.
I'm reasonably sure you can see the light of Groom Lake at nigh from
that same route. I need to fly on an airline that allows GPSs in the
cabin.
Sunday flights may be further south if the range is not active. I
suppose if you really got anal about this, fly in the last two weeks
of June or the last two weeks of December. Weapons school is not
active then. It's a good time to run a scanner around the ranges since
there is no chatter from weapons school, meaning what you hear is more
likely to be Groom related.
