I think you might be a bit harsh in your assessment, and it comes down
to the difference between reporters (the real deal) and tabloid
shows. The tabloid shows can take your quotes and make you say
exactly what they want. If Peter Merlin were the tour guide instead,
the producers would have spliced together snippets of the conversation
to have him say "There are UFOs at Groom". There's no burden of
objectivity there.

But they didn't choose Peter Merlin. They chose a "guide"
that advertises his "I want to believe" stance.

Merlin would have focused on plane crashes.
Glenn/Chuck would have focused on challenging the
boundary and/or finding out public or non-public
info about the base, it's existance within the
tax structure of the county/state/fed, the toxic
issue etc.

Even if the producer were so unethical as to splice together
"There are UFOs at Groom" they'd be much better off with
a guide that believes there are UFOs or at least doesn't
want to disprove them.

I'm not putting all the blame on the guide. The
producers got what they wanted.
Peter Andre asked me if there were UFO's at Area 51 and I said "if our
country had something like that, it might be kept there. I don't
personally believe there are UFO's there." A lot of things were said
in 11 hours and is all they wanted to hear about was UFO's. I
understand completey where you guys are coming from. I am not even
showing that video on my website. ~ don't want to give tours about
aliens. I just take them out to the usual spots and we get a few
great photos and camp out in the summer and cook a few hotdogs and
tell stories.
