We've got one of those pretty near my place.
It's at the side of the freeway. As you get
close, it looks unnaturally symmetrical and
you can tell it's fake. Plus it's at the top
of a hill that looks like the typical antenna
farm.
But I think it looks a lot more natural than
the pine tree or palm tree variants.
In our case (here in Phoenix) I imagine they're not trying
to hide it, just tone down the visual impact. Passersby
still can tell it's an antenna. It just doesn't look
like a typical cell tower.
I think it would be quite easy to add some "bird nest damage"
and other "naturalizing" to make it blend in if that
was the desired effect.
