Are there any wind power projects in the area? I've often seen
gigantic vanes and pedestal segments headed north on I-37 between
Corpus Christi and San Antonio. Nothing like this "tire" though.
I have seen the towers and vanes for wind power travel on route 93.
General Electric has a wind power manufacturing or distribution
facility at the Mojave airport (KMHV). Much of the "iron" is out in
the open at the facility. I don't recall seeing anything that would
fit what was photographed.
From memory, it is located at
35° 2'57.16"N 118° 9'24.76"W
but I don't see anything relevant on Google Earth.
