I thought it was interesting reading what they were thinking back
then. It sure sounds a lot like what people seem to be describing in
many sightings on the net and other places. The info is on page 2-3
on this report.

Yeah, but the approach was abandoned. In any event, the blimp is just
to lift the aircraft to altitude unless I am reading this incorrectly.
As you know, there are many designs where one plane is used to carry
another plane to altitude before releasing it. (X15, space ship one,
probably more if I thought about it.)
The giant blimp triangles that people sight are the aircraft itself.
That is, the blimp supposedly does all the fast moving. Sounds like
swamp gas effects to me.
It seems to me that people are seeing something in the air. It seems
they are seeing something very large. Whether it is a blimp or some
type of craft, obviously I have no idea. I just found it interesting
that the dimensions Johnson quickly came up with are quite massive.
Whatever people are seeing seems quite massive. I have no idea if it
was or is a project that "Skunkworks" worked on. I imagine most of
the sightings would fall into the "nut job" file, but some seem like
real genuine sightings. Just throwing it out there. The dimensions
he described made me think!
There are a few real life large balloon observation platforms,
generally radar. The problem with the sightings is big and fast, which
is probably mutually exclusive.
As I've stated here a few time, but perhaps before you started reading
this group, UAVs flown in sequence (formation) look like large
aircraft. Around 1999 (plus or minus a year) they would fly the RQ-1
around the range in formation, so to speak. We're not talking the
Thunderbirds, but more like follow the leader. A typical formation
would be two or three predators at one altitude, and one a bit higher
in altitude at the tail, as if to look over the pack. The first time I
saw this, I thought it was a huge airplane, i.e. miles long. But then
you could see between the flashing lights, so it was obvious you had
aircraft following each other. They were flying very slow. Now it
isn't known for sure they were predators since this predated having
the frequency for the UHF tower. [I found VHF control and tower in my
first two visits to the area, just by scanning from the power lines.]
The route they flew was:
1) pop out in the notch next to Bald Mountain,
2) hang a right, flying on the west side of the ET Highway towards
Tikabo.
3) hang a left at Tikaboo and cross over the ET highway
4) fly north on the east side of TIkaboo to Mt. Irish
5) return to the notch next to Bald Mountain
This route avoids "the box", so predators from KINS would make sense
here. That is, these planes are not likely to be from Groom.
Or it could be swamp gas.
Cool info. That is something that I had not heard of them doing out
there. That is why I consider you the Area 51 Guru. You are wise. I
am but a "young grasshopper". DLR will never be the premier Area 51
research site until you are involved with DLR! I have always wondered
how you feel about the current administration and what affects it
might have on the "black projects" world. I would imagine if Obama
could, he would cut the hell out of their budgets. It seems to me
(somebody who lived in the Bay Area for 15 years -Benicia
specifically) that you are a pretty hardcore liberal from the SF
area. Not to say that is bad! Let's just say it is not the typical
Nevada political mind set. I am just wondering what you think a
liberal like Obama who can't stand the military means to a place like
Groom. Or does he really even have an effect since the budgets are
pretty well made in advance for projects. Or are they. I don't really
know what the funding time frame is for "black projects". Anyway I
might be wrong about your politics. If I am, I apologize. I was just
going off the stuff on your site about the Death Penalty, Cheney and
some other material.
Considering Obama is ramping up the war in Afghanistan, I don't think
he is too anti-military. What he isn't is a rubber stamp. Robert
Gates, Bush's man, was the one that pulled the plug on the F22 and a
few other programs.
I have a real program with the military contractors much more than the
military itself. If a company is fully funded by military projects,
they are going to find a way to keep the supply chain going, even if
the project isn't needed. Eisenhower was right. In the dark ages when
I worked for EG&G, the company was never a military contractor, but
rather a technology company that did some military projects. Troll
Ebay and you can find old EG&G analytical hardware for sale. Well
after numerous mergers and acquisitions, what is left of the company
is purely defense
Nobody "owns" Area 51 on the net. DLR has had contributors come and
go. In general, you are better off owning your own content, though DLR
has allowed one contributor to take his content back. I suppose if I
didn't get kicked off, DLR would have the Bluebird and Groom ground
frequencies. Perhaps a bit more time spent on research in the field
would do the site some good. Nobody has figured out who or what "Balmy
Breeze" is. But countless man hours were spent analyzing running
tracks!
I agree! Nothing can beat "in the field" discovery. I was recently
sort of bummed out about the picture I took of the sticker in the back
window of an Area 51 workers government truck. The post on DLR
created no real discussion. There have been a few other posts that I
was disappointed with. That is when I started coming over here to
post, learn, and discuss. Thanks
The last time I passed through Alamo, I made sure to cruse the parking
lot looking for that sticker. Of course, they must have a schmuck
whose job is to read all these forums and as Elvis said, "take care of
business." Driving around the Mojave Spaceport you see the occasional
car with the Calvin and Hobbs style "Calvin pissing on whatever
decal", which in this particular case was Calvin pissing on NASA. I
look for the funny diamond decal there too.
Nobody has ever fully figured out why the dudes have an office in
Alamo. We know they are deputized. I suppose they could attend staff
meetings, the morning briefing, etc. I can just imagine the morning
briefing at the Lincoln County Sheriff Department. "Gentlemen, your
job today is to catch speeders and bother young girls at the Sinclair
gas station. Oh, and harass anyone with an Area 51 front license
plate." I don't know if the workers board the bus at the county
complex. Maybe a dude screens who gets on the bus. The bus must have a
radio in it, I don't recall the Groom trunk system working in Alamo,
so maybe they have a radio to hook up with the LC Sheriff Department.
We know Groom uses a few non-trunked frequencies. From a description
of Steve Medlin's radio, it sounds like a simple non-trunked HT.
There is plenty of stuff about the base to discover, but you need to
be in the field. If only we had a resident of Rachel to do
investigations. ;-)
