The county seat is Pioche, an adventure all to itself. Enter any
public building and get stared at with that "what are you doing here
boy" look. You learn to appreciate towns like Tonopah and Alamo,

villages. I've dealt with the BLM, Nye County Recorder and Nye County
Assessor, all very nice people. I haven't worked up the nerve to deal
with their equivalents in Pioche.
Oh hell, Pioche ain't bad! Nor is "Calienny" or Alamo.
You too can share this cheery outlook on rural Nevada towns. Just
visit Colorado City or Hilldale in Utah.
