Two recent observations at the Groom Lake Road warning sign area.
Went to the warning signs with a friend and notice a convertible with
three 25-30 year old guys.  All three were from Ireland.  They were
here in Las Vegas for bachelor party.  They had spent the night at
Rachel and said they drank with the staff at the little A Le Inn all
night (not shocked).  One of the men was a police officer in Ireland.
He wanted to go see the "cammo dudes".  His friends were telling him
to be careful.  I couldn't wait.  I was encouraging him to visit the
dudes, but not to cross the boundary.  It appears that half of the
hill they sit on and watch the warning signs from is on "our side", so
the officer went up the hill on our side and remained on our side.
The funny part was how as he got closer they backed up in reverse.  He
would stop and they would stop.  He would advance and they would back
up.  It was funny.  He eventually got to the line of death and
stopped.  He waved to them and then returned to our little group.
After they left, my friend and I stayed and watched a car with an
elderly couple drive up to the signs and pass the signs about a car
length, slam on the breaks and stop.  The "cammo dudes" jumped out and
in an angrily manner waved the driver to reverse.  Nothing real big,
but two rather funny little incidents recently.  Otherwise, everything
seems quiet this summer!!!

Which hill? Hawkeve?

Yep, I normally think people that mess with the cammo dudes are jerks,
but we talked to these guys for about an hour at the little campsite
near Hawkeye hill and they were really good guys.  I am not sure why
the one went up the hill to their truck but it was funny.

I'm amazed they figured out Hawkeye hill on their first visit. I
suspect some internet research prior to heading out to the border.

Yes, the dudes scurry like cockroaches when you climb the hill. They
also try your door handle just to piss you off, but if you were at the
camp site, that probably wasn't possible.

The dudes really drive too fast to get away from the tourists. I've
seen them mess up a few times. One of the locals saw a dude back his
dudemobile into a cactus. I surprised the dudes once when I camped on
their perch near the back gate area I tripped a sensor, so they came
out, but didn't realized I was parked on their spot until they made
the turn. My car was hidden by a tree. They backed up to get away from
me,and went off the road due an embankment. One dude had to get out
and guide the driver. I spared them photography of the incident.

Ultimately, you don't want the dudes to be too pissed at you.
Generally you are outnumbered, and there are no witnesses.
