The Feds have decided it's time to prepare a new environmental impact
statement for the NTS and the DOE's operations at TTR, the Nellis
range, and other offsite spots in Nevada.  They are planning four
scoping meetings in September, three in Nevada and one in Utah.

This document will be a replacement for the massive EIS that was done
in 1996.  By getting on their distribution list as an interested party
(or by making comments) or signing up at a scoping meeting, you will
receive, free, a copy of the draft and final documents.  If it's
anything like the 1996 document, it will be a treasure chest of info
nuggets and graphics weighing many pounds, covering everything that
goes on at the NTS.  A draft copy is due out in mid-2010 and the final
document is due in 2011.
