I took some friends out to Area 51 to check things out. I hadn't been
there in about three weeks. The snow was beautiful. We went to the
back gate out of Rachel and I noticed the snow was really torn up on
the road. It looked as if quite a few trucks had been on the road. Out
in front of the Little A Le Inn were several dirt haulers. East of the
Little A Le Inn were two mounds of dirt. Two different types of dirt
and a few front end loaders there. Before you get to Rachel the is a
new gravel pit that is really active. Mounds of dirt everywhere. I
local resident of Rachel told me that this all showed up about two
weeks ago and they are hauling dirt all day long through the back gate
at Rachel. I asked it was due to them fixing the nearby roads and they
said no the dirt is going to Area 51 and nobody knows why. Any info
from anybody else? I took pictures of the trucks, two different piles
of dirt, and the dirt pit. I am wondering if the person in Rachel I
spoke with was correct. Is the dirt heading to Area 51?

Any thoughts?

Moving dirt is one thing. Is there stone base nearby. That would imply
paving.

Commercial truck driver drops off the dirt outside the gate. Qualified
truck driver hauls it to the base. For some reason, the heavy
construction vehicles use the back gate. I've seen this before. I've
often wondered about this. If the construction is on the base, the
front gate would make sense. So one theory is the construction in on
the range, but not necessarily at Groom Lake.

Did you drive to the front gate and make theguards leave the shack?

I got half way down glr and the snow was too bad.  I started sliding
all over so I slowd way down and the snow started getting too deep.
The couple I was with really wanted to turn back so we went to the
back gate.  the guy wore a turbin and the camera was all over him.  I
was walking all around the baclk gate and they just followed him.

No use getting stuck in the snow. I carry a folding shovel. It's been
too many years since I lived where it snows to recall what else to
bring. Cinders could be messy. You have 4WD, right?

Turban can mean lots of things. Often Sihk. I think the base doesn't
appreciate my balaclava, but if it's cold, I'm wearing one. These damn
terrorists have co-opted a perfectly fine and useful bit of apparel. I
also have a mil surplus thermal hat and those REI mitten/glove things
where you can flip the mitten part back to expose your fingers for
triggering the shutter.

Something like this without the fur:

Here are the gloves. Really a rip, but REI never has deals:
