There are two PDFs for packaged passive infrared detectors (862 and
864). Unfortunately, the one used by the USAF is in German, but the
specs are pretty easy to read. This looks like the unit they had at
Road Block Canyon,  One hundred meters is pretty good for PIR. I
wouldn't have guessed that.

Maybe they got tired of checking out false alarms due to cattle
grazing. Somewhere I have a photo taken near Road Block Canyon of a
cow pie with yucca plant leaves (needles?) in the pie. That's gotta
hurt. They passed through maintaining their shape, but were white.

Actually what caught my eye was more their page on laser detectors.
It looks like their 420-1 laser detector, for $107, might make a nifty
detector for targeting lasers  whilst out on the range.
