Just to give you an idea of what sort of peepery is going on out
there, here's a bit of info on one of their longer range cameras.
First, go to:
http://www.dreamlandresort.com/area51/surveillance.html
and scroll down until you reach the 4th picture from the bottom. It's
the one with the CCTV next to the white Cherokee. Got it? Good!
Now go to:
http://www.cohu-cameras.com/products/vidcams/8800.html
Does that camera in the upper right look a little familiar? It
should. Now take note of the text. It's capable of precisely
identifying a human at 5.9 kilometers. They have the coolest toys!
Remember that next time you're taking a pee out there and thinking no
one is around.

This photo will save you from looking at a f-ing flash advert. ;-) I
think the new camera is different.

A good thing I downloaded the whole Cohu catalog since I didn't want
to register more than once. The bad thing is the Cohu PDF names are
kind of random at times.
BTW, for RV58, the bald camera is different. I think it is larger.http://www.lazygranch.com/bm.htm
I have some telem on 411.2 herehttp://www.lazygranch.com/ttr.htm
at the bottom. It could be camera movement, but it seems very
regular. There are all sorts of possibilities for telem, generally
remote reading of tank levels, temperature, voltage, etc. In an urban
area, this would go over pager or cellular, but on the range, you have
to be your own phone company.
I try to face away from Bald when performing bodily functions. ;-) For
certain visitors to the range, the camo dudes bring out all the stops:http://www.lazygranch.com/divinemsm.htm
I have a standing offer for the dudes to reveal the name of the Divine
Ms. M and the gentlemen's club in Vegas where she works, but they just
don't want to talk to me.
I didn't notice the 8880 model. That could be it. However, there are
other similar looking cameras. I searched "unclesam" on google, and
there are no clear winners for military use. The 5600 is used at the
top of the line ranges.
No luck on the W antenna.
