Funny that the pilot of the A-12 crash at Wendover is blacked out. He was
identified as Ken Collins (CIA) in Ben Rich's book, Skunk Works, published
in 1994.

I wonder if EG&G provided security at the crash site, or LAC had their
own goons?

BTW, I finished Phil Patton's Dreamland (another book of that era).
Phil is really a good writer. Some of the stuff he writes really gives
you the feel that he experienced hanging out around the range. I don't
have the book handy, but he makes this remark about the maps showing
the names of towns that are really just "sites", and where the
elevation seems more significant that the population. The map makers
would put them on the map just so nobody thought they were goofing off
(i.e. a lack of dots by the road). You have to really wonder why
Golden Arrow and Silverbow have a sign by the side of the road. Does
anyone really need to go to Silverbow? And even then, the sign is a
fraud since they don't have signs indicating where to turn to get to
Golden Arrow or Silverbow. You take the road and you just end up by
the TTR front gate. Now you could say the sign is really there for the
TTR and they use Silverbow as a cover, but then the big rocket by the
TTR sign wouldn't make sense.

The only bad thing about Phil's book is he spends some time talking
about Roswell and Lazar.
