Just like the good old days. It should be greatly entertaining to see
people show up totally clueless as to what sort of hike awaits them:

No tent required. Well, golly, who doesn't mind sharing a sleeping bag
with a lizard. There is very little wildlife near the top of Tikaboo,
but plenty of critters where the road ends. I was charged by a hippity
hoppity hare walking from where I park to the staging area (or where
the insane park). I think the hare was spooked and was running for
dear life, then noticed the bipeds and did a 90 degree turn.
I don't think staging on the dirt road is a good idea. For one thing,
it's a road, not a parking lot. Second, it does attract attention. I
would stage by the rest stop just south of the turn off. Plenty of
parking and a few portapotties. It's not like everyone is going to
show up at the exact time.
I think he is a bit optimistic regarding how soon they will be back in
town. When I do the hike to pre-position water between the start of the
trail and the last false summit, it takes at least three and a half
hours round trip. Of course, I'm dropping off 20lbs of water, plus
carrying 6lbs of water for the trip. Anyway, going back is a lot
longer than people think, and that is where haste leads to sprains or
broken bones.
The problem I have with bringing new people to the peak is if they
want to turn back. I really don't care how long it takes me to do the
hike, but I hate it when I have to abandon the hike. I won't let
someone turn back without a guide. The trail markings are not that
great.
