I usually travel with my digital camera or video camera, but did not this time. I only had my cell phone. While driving I managed to snap a shot of what appeared, with the naked eye, to clearly be a UAV, but upon further review, at home, it appears to be a flying cow or UFO!http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo10/desertshadow/Creech%20Trip%20...http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo10/desertshadow/Creech%20Trip%20...So what do you think you saw? Predator? Is 95 faster than Blue Diamond?Last time I was in Vegas, the Thunderbirds were practicing at Nellis. I assumed Creech was too busy.It was a beautiful Predator. It was actually close to the HWY, but I only had a cell phone. Those are really cool to see come in from the Range and land at Creech. It was about 6pm. I am sure it had a full day out on the Range. HWY 95 is a lot longer, but I try to go that way once a month to check on Creech and the NTS. Amazing amount of construction at Creech. They really are expanding South of the main base. The North end as well has about 20-30 construction trucks laying asphalt and clearing away brush. Creech is really the future of the Air Force. No doubt about it. It changes almost on a weekly basis.
Creech certainly isn't the backwater that was Indian Springs. Looks like they have mock towns south of the base. Silver Flag Alpha (or some variant of those words) is done near Creech. It looks like Firepower is history. If you do the long route once a month, it might pay to hang out an hour rather than do a drive by. Probably not in the winter due to the short days, but the rest of the year. The thing with observation of these facilities is you need to stake them out. At any one moment, nothing could be happening. It's a pain since the waiting is often boring, though listening with a scanner can help. A lack of bathroom and privacy kind of limits your steak out, though you can use the facilities at the casino or gas station. I think they serve a Predator burger at the casino. Any snow on Charleston? If I head out for MAFEX, I might climb Bonanza Peak if it is not snow caps. I like these freakin' Nevada hiking guides that indicate 4 season hiking. Well yeah, if you have snow shoes for winter hiking and don't mind getting electrocuted by lightning most of the summer.
