There's nothing wrong with direct experience, that Mister Man. I thoroughly
enjoy it and find it rather enlightening. Thankya please.

There is another way, Flaffer, but I'm not surprised you are not aware
of it.

It appears the me that there are folks out there who are not only
unaware of "another way", but the concept is completely, er, alien
to them. Even more so, it is apparently obvious to me that there
are folks out there who are willing to believe - or give credit it - just
about anything they hear that can be catagorised as pro-conspiracy
theory. Particularly the UFO phenomena. I find it sad that those
same people can find the energy to waffle forever onward about
something that - I believe - is worth some scientific credit, but
without ever contributing to that scientific worth.

The other way is to read research by people who have done scientific
experiments, or conduct those experiments yourself. Your lack of
understanding of basic scientific methods explains many of the
problems you have understanding the field of UFO research.

An excellent point.

But the whole problem with the field of "Popular UFO research" - the
kind that your average fanatical believer subscribes to - is that it has
become a cliche of itself. No genuine, respected scientific establishment
would dare intrude on the subject because the obsessive believers have
made it a taboo field, full of ridicule. This ensures a very low signal
to noise ratio. But if that ratio was reversed, and the obsessives began
to take an objective (instead of their usual subjective) look at the
subject,
then that situation could change for the better.

The obsessives claim they are in search of the truth, but in reality they
are the bottleneck that's keeping the truth well and truly undiscovered.

Thankya kindly,
