person argue to me in all sincerity that the people who wrote "X-Files" were
part of a campaign to help get the public acclimatized to "the truth" so that
there would be less panic and social upheaval after "full disclosure".
So true...I've run into nutballs locally here who contend the exact
same thing. They firmly believe that the PowersThatBe are using the
Xfiles as a sort of indoctrination, so that the profoundly stupid and
easily spooked rest of the population can get used to the idea of
aliens and weird ghostly things.
Some of the nutcases I've met make stupid people like Twonky and
Garrrry seem tame by comparison.
