I am curious to know whether there are any studies that investigate
positive or negative correlations between intelligence and the belief
that UFOs are extraterrestrial. I have found the following information
concerning the correlation between education and beliefs about UFOs.
Yes, the higher the intelligence, the more one is able
to accept the alien presence; this has been proven.
Those with a 6 to 8-year college education
are in the group with the highest acceptance rate
that some UFOs are extraterrestrial craft.
This should be obvious anyway.
Those with a good scientific background
can look at the data proving the alien presence.
Secondly, some of those highly educated
people have some connections with
the super-secret corporate; military
and intelligence agencies which monitor
the ET's and work with alien technology.
Please disregard what any "State" debunker,
low-level operative or wanna-bees (like Sludge)
has to say.
I trust that answers your question fully.
Sir Arthur
Erich Goode in _Paranormal Beliefs_, citing some polls, suggest that
there is little correlation. David Miller in _Introduction to
Collective Behavior_, citing a few Gallup polls, found that more
educated people tended to believe that UFOs are "something real"
rather than "people's imagination." The meaning of "something real" or
"people's imagination," however, is ambiguous. An NSF survey shows
that less educated people tend to believe that UFOs are
extraterrestrial [1]. In a Mufon poll, "Only a weak correlation was
found" between education and the belief that UFOs are extraterrestrial
[2], but whether this correlation is positive or negative is unclear
to me.
While the above sources investigate the correlation between education
and the belief that UFOs are extraterrestrial, they do not investigate
the correlation between intelligence and the belief that UFOs are
extraterrestrial. I realize that investigating intelligence is more
difficult than investigating education. However, studies of this type
have been conducted investigating correlations between intelligence
and level of religious belief [3]. I would be interested to know if
anyone is aware of similar studies concerning UFOs.
