DULLES AND THE WARREN COMMISSION

One of the most baffling and least understood actions of
President Johnson was the appointment of Allen Dulles to the
investigative body given to Chief Justice of the United States
Supreme Court, Earl Warren. All during the investigation by
the Warren Commission to investigate the death of President
Kennedy, he neither confirmed nor denied a conspiracy had been
involved in Dallas, Texas, but influenced its members to buy
into the lone assassin theory which became the marching orders
of the commission which won the approval of President Johnson
for fear the Cuban connection would be exposed by the press
and incite the American people against Cuba and a possible
Third World War. Attorney General Robert Kennedy did not allow
the Warren Commission to explore this possibility out of fear
it would disclose the CIA/Mafia connection but believed that
members of ZR/RIFLE were responsible for his brother's
killing.

In 1990 the CIA declassified a 1975 memorandum from Charles N.
Kane, the Agency's director of security at the time, that was
part of the presented documentation for the Church Committee
investigation into covert operations confirmed Dulles'
involvement:

"A review of the Office of Security files relating to Robert
A. Maheu, Johnny Roselli, and Salvadore (Sam) Giancana
disclosed that the operation against Fidel Castro was approved
by Allen Dulles, who was DCI at the time..."

It is also ironic that Allen Dulles was never questioned under
oath regarding his knowledge of the Kennedy assassination as
former Director of Central Intelligence before a grand jury
and died before New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison
could question him on the witness stand regarding Clay L.
Shaw's duplicity and knowledge of the CIA conspiracy. Like so
many cover-up operations of the U.S. Intelligence Community,
the presidential knowledge, the subterfuge, doublecross, and
backfire of covert operations has taken its toll on truth and
we may never know the whole story.
