If, like me, you are fed up with all the off-topic posts
appearing in the newsgroups, then I suggest that you direct all
valid traffic to mail lists and leave the trolls, bigotts,
spammers, etc to the NG's where they can troll and spam each
other to their heart's content. A quick search at
www.groups.yahoo.com or www.smartgroups.com for "UFO" will
produce a variety of groups (many of them no longer active) which
should cater for everyone's tastes. If you don't see a group
already established that covers your topic, then create one and
place notices for it in the newsgroups.

The following lists I have found to be far more informative and
topical than any of the newsgroups:
