It is fact -- not fiction -- that Immanuel Velikovsky
will forever rank as one of the most brilliant scientists
of the 20th century, actually an investigative reporter
if there ever was one.
But not a scientist.

Velikovsky didn't have the foggiest notion
Correct. But that didn't stop him from creating one of the most popular
pieces of crank science in the 20th century.
It was ALL there -- facts and evidence compiled by honest
scientists for centuries -- based on their intensive study
of the mysteries both of man and earth but conveniently
ignored.
Not so. Many astronomers (and even mythologists) perused it and dismissed
it as wholly untenable. Velikovsky, in response, didn't alter his position
one bit. He "conveniently ignored" the evidence against his claims and, in
classic kook fashion, dug his heels in and refused to alter his hypotheses.
