In article <n0nnrv4tevheefrt7s5hjqfehfc7kn6rui@4ax.com>, David Patrick says...

At least you know how it feels.....

Patty, I put down a simple trap that any 5-year old could've seen through,
but amazingly you didn't. Sad :<

Of course, you can still produce any piece of your own UFO research
any time you want.

Patty, perhaps you are snorting too much snuff,
if you read the title of this continuing post, you would
see that I have PROVED that you (and many other debunkers)
are "victims" of extraterrestrial visitations.

Now go play in some mud, or whatever it is
you debunkers do. You are no longer
welcome here, and in fact you never were!!!

SCIENTISTS REPORT MAJOR UFO SIGHTING IN AZERBAIJAN

[CNI News thanks California-based journalist L. Kean for alerting us to this
story.]

A report originating in the Azerbaijani newspaper Zerkalo, dated October 28,
reported in Reuters Business Briefings via BBC Monitoring/Central Asia of Nov
1, 1999, stated that a number of UFO sightings have been reported in recent
weeks in the Central Asian nation of Azerbaijan. The latest reportedly
occurred on October 15 during a conference of astrophysicists in the capital
city of Baku, on the Caspian Sea.

"This time the sceptics could not deny the evidence of their own eyes," the
news report in Zerkalo said. "They even managed to capture it on film."

A large disc-shaped flying object was visible overhead from some seven
minutes, witnessed by scientists attending a conference at the Shemakha
astrophysics observatory in Baku, the report said.

"Due to the sudden upsurge in extraterrestrial activity" in the region,
Zerkalo said, "a commission on anomalous phenomena has been set up in the
Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences. That commission is now studying videotape of
the recent sighting shot by the astrophysicists at Shemakha."

According to the story by Zerkalo reporter M.Bagirov, "None of the
participants in the fifth international conference, which took place from 14
to 17 October, could have guessed that they would witness the flight of a
genuine flying saucer.

"Precisely this spectacle presented itself before the eyes of the
intellectual elite of Azerbaijan, who had sceptically received such reports
before, after the conclusion of the second day of discussions. Suddenly, on
the horizon, which was lit up by the rays of the setting sun, a brightly
shining object appeared.

"It was a traditional flying saucer which flew over the observatory. The
object was not in the sky for long -- only seven minutes -- but this was more
than enough to definitively shake the scepticism of science in relation to
anomalous phenomena.

"The scientists worked effectively. They managed to catch the flying saucer
on videotape. The assessments of the experts were unanimous -- it was a UFO,"
Bagirov wrote.

At least three scientists attending the conference confirmed to Zerkalo that
the sighting took place. These included V. Salmanov, doctor of physics and
mathematics, professor of Baku State University; A. Hasanov, head of the
scientific sector of Intergeo-Tetis; and R. Salmanzade, head of the
department of solar physics, Shemakha astrophysics observatory.

"On the second day of the conference, 15 October at 19.15 hours [7:15 pm
local time], after the end of the meeting, we returned to the hotel," one
witness said. "At that time, at an approximate angle of 15-20 degrees in the
western part of the sky over Pirguli, a brightly shining object, shaped like
a saucer, appeared.

"The brightness of the object was comparable to the brightness of the moon,
which at that time was in the southwestern part of the sky. During the time
when it was observed, which lasted for five to seven minutes, the object
changed its position several times from horizontal to vertical and
vice-versa. When it took the horizontal position, its lower section rotated
very noticeably.

"The UFO was located at a distance of approximately 30-40 kilometres from us.
Soon the object started to move off very quickly and was hidden behind the
mountains. In the last two minutes of observing it, we managed to film it
with a Panasonic M-3000 video camera."

Asked by the news reporter if the witnesses had a shared opinion on what the
object was, one witness replied: "This unusual phenomenon was observed by
astrophysicists and physicists. In their unanimous opinion, the observed
object could not have been one of the atmospheric phenomena which are known
to us or an anomalous phenomenon connected with human activity. We definitely
observed a UFO. And we are convinced that at the present level of development
of science the idea of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations should
not inspire perplexity."

In response to a number of other recent UFO incidents in the region, a
permanent commission on anomalous phenomena under the presidium of the
Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was established at the beginning of October
1999. All "anomalous" information from around Azerbaijan will henceforth be
gathered there. The new UFO film is under examination by this group.

Zerkalo's reporter asked the co-chairman of this commission, doctor of
geological and mineralogical sciences Elchin Khalilov, if any conclusions
could be drawn from examining the UFO videotape.

The news report quoted Khalilov as saying, "This is the latest irrefutable
fact in favor of the existence of anomalous phenomena. I took part in the
study of the videotape and can confirm that the Shemakha UFO is not a natural
phenomenon, but a technical object. We have managed to find out that there
was a powerful splash of energy around the object, which was visible in the
form of bright flashes. According to preliminary calculations, the diameter
of the UFO was 110 metres. But we have only just started our work."
