I've seen video of the moon landing, the flag "ripples" whenever the astronauts handle the pole, the rest of the time it hangs there from its brace along the top seam. Somebody please show me the flag fluttering in the breeze!" Actually, there was one. This one was filmed from the window of the LEM, and showed the flag whipping violently in the breeze. This just happened to be as the LEM was taking off from the surface of the moon, so the rocket exhaust provided a considerable breeze in all directions. ----------------------------------------------el: "Actually, there was one where the flag was seen fluttering AFTER the astronauts walked away. Last year, I think, I posted vidcaps of it and it was agreed that the flag did indeed flutter without the usual handling and torquing. It is more impressive when you see the video. There is no explanation for the flag moving after it was left alone."I have never seen this. Where is it?I'm sorry I can't offer you any details. It's one of those things where I have the few seconds on one of my many UFO tapes. And I can't remember the Apollo mission either. All I can do is describe it. Two astronauts on either side of the stanchion or pole. The camera filming it is not too far away. One astronaut leaves the other to hammer in the pole and place the flag/pole onto the pole in the ground or lunar soil. When the astronaut is finished he approaches the camera in their quaint gait. AFTER he leaves the flag behind him and approaches the camera and goes by it you see the flag behind him waving. Of course it can be explained by someone more qualified but the waving is definitely not due to the torquing of the astronaut as they've left the area!"
I don't suppose it could still be swinging on the upper brace from the force of the hammering?
