Do you even KNOW what the meaning of reverse engineering IS. It means taking apart something to see how it works.
If you are suggesting anti matter, well it is a possibility and there has been research used to try to use anti matter for fuel. Matter and its opposite anti matter when joined causes energy.
Anti matter is used in medicine ON humans during brain scans. It is done every day in hospitals. But to get the amount to propel a space craft is another matter.
To produce the anti matter to propel a space ship given present technology would take millions of years. That is for just one ship. Our sun would probably nova by that time and we wouldnt have to worry about aliens anyways.
Better yet check out the CERN site. It will give you better insight on such things.
Human or alien physiology has nothing to do with anti matter propulsion.  Getting anti matter in a large quantity is the problem.
As for the aliens or humans the only thing either of them could be composed of is matter or anti matter. No strange unknowns as you suggest. And there is no possible way to reverse engineer a human being, takeing one apart molecule by molecule anymore than a space ship.....even by aliens. We are not all idiots to believe humans have to be reverse engineered to be compatible with anything particularly a space craft that is made of molecules, atoms and physically existing, since everything we know is made of the same properties.
