Humans, just like any other species, have their good points and their bad
points.  Simply put, humans are not aliens and aliens are not human.

If we want to get along peacefully with our neighbors in space and become a
space faring species (and survive as a species) then we need to look at the
differences and the similarities between us and them.  It's a long process
and one which requires trust.

No, that's not what I intended.  Let me put it another way, if aliens and
humans were the same, then there'd be no problem.  We're not the same --
they're different from us and we're different from them.  There is however
common ground.  Apparently they're as interested in us and we (or should be)
in them.  That's a good starting point. 

I don't think the aliens are judgmental in the sense that they've decided
human kind is worthless and should be destroyed.  But I do think the aliens
see things in human behavior they find contradictory and have learned about
that.  It is wise to forgo judgement on anything unless one's immediate
survival is dependant on it.  In doing that, one leaves the door open to
learning something.  Once one passes judgement their mind is closed--
nothing can get in and they can't learn.

No, that's not what I meant. To be less intelligent is nothing to be ashamed
of -- it's our biology.  We as human beings in contemplating a race of
beings with larger brains have to understand our brains many not function
like theirs -- and obviously they don't. Not all human beings are of the
same intelligence either.  But there's other things to consider -- like
alien emotional makeup is different than ours.  Humans exist as individual
egos, aliens do not.  Human are MUCH more emotional than aliens are, though
aliens have shown emotion to me, it's extremely deep and thoughtful.  But
for the most part aliens can be what SEEMS to be mocking of humans, when in
fact it's their humor and cajoling -- and IMO, it's an opportunity for
humans to learn -- about ourselves and aliens.
