Quite the opposite. They depend on them being smart. The stupid are no
danger and can be ignored; witness tabloid magazines. They want smart
people to believe them, in order to produce the dichotomy. If smart
people believe it, it must be true.

Well, that's not really saying anything, because it's all
psychological manipulation, or more correctly psychological
operations.

You probably mean covert. Far more of that occurs than overt. In fact,
some overt ops are agitprop in that they'll be made to appear to have
been perpetrated by the other side.

Oh my word yes. CoIntelPro was very common in the Native American
groups. Of course the seeds for that were planted by the FBI more that
20 years earlier.
