Okay, I'll tell them....

There are certain deeply covert intelligence agencies, the inner sanctum as
it were, who are certain aliens were a large influence in the creation of
human kind on earth (which is basically true).  Therefore technically aliens
ARE our gods, or god.  What the fundamentalists in the intelligence circles
fear is that the aliens were responsible for historic religious figures,
like Jesus.  And it's those people who fear that the genetically enhanced
alien experiencers will be regarded as gods on earth and replace their
Christ figure -- basically usurping their power and authority.

And of course *they* regard the genetically modified and telepathic alien
experiencers as a threat to the status quo because those experiencers have
abilities *way* beyond the normal.  So the power elite want them dead.  And
the aliens are not happy campers about that.  Not at all.
