It is extremely unlikely that extraterrestrials use radio frequencies.
Quantum Particles for Communication?
:-)
Time-domain transmission systems are the new-tech way to use the radio
spectrum for communications. The conventional radio communication uses
fixed frequency resonant circuitry and resonant antenna systems to produce
the carrier wave, then that wave is modulated by either amplitude (AM),
frequency (FM), or phase (PM) to transmit information. The latter of which
is used predominately in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems and
wireless phone communications.
Time-domain transmission is really pulsed DC through a non-resonant
ultra-broadband antenna. The pulse width with a theoretically infinite
bandwidth is used to transmit digital data which could be an analog voice
converted to digital. Since it doesn't continuously resonate at a
particular frequency, the power requirement are low, being transient in
nature, and very efficient. Tthe environmental impact on humans is possibly
orders of magnitude lower than conventional radio waves, allowing greater
range and discrimination.
In practice, the systems under Patent currently are up to the equivalent of
5GHz of radio frequency. Since you can use the same frequency spectrum as
existing conventional radio without interference, it opens up the
utilization of >10X the existing band allocations. With exotic encoding
techniques, the useable bandwidth is possibly hundreds of times greater than
our current frequency allocations.
Of course, if we Eathlings can think of it it's already been and gone in the
potentially infinite knowledge of the extraterrestrials. Granted, those
UFO's which we see on Planet Earth might actually be terrestrial, but their
obvious domination over pesky things like gravity & light means that nothing
that we currently use for technology would be impressive compared to them.
About the only similarity is the use of landing gear.
Is there such a thing as gravity wave communication?
