You can't blame him for setting up a good spam filter though! I know
I'm going to have to find something for spam; it has increased so much
in just the past month that it hurts my wrist to delete it all!

It's got to the point where I get very little legitimate email :(

A couple things I do which keeps my spam to essentially zero :

1) I have freebie mail accounts I use whenever I need to put in a valid
e-mail address for things which shouldn't need them (like reading
on-line newspaper articles at some sites - they want an e-mail address
even if there's no fee). That way I can get my login details and not
care how much junk hits it.

2) If you use a freebie mail account, DON'T USE HOTMAIL! I had a hotmail
account from way back before there were M$-owned, no spam problems. Ever
since M$ took over I get loads and loads of 'offers' to an address I
never gave out to anyone other than friends and family. For my tastes,
Yahoo has been pretty spam free.

3) If you sign up for any mail lists or auto notices, have them sent to
a freebie. Basically the only people who get my ISP mail address are
just that - people. No lists, no forms, nothing on-line, etc. All the
notices I subscribe to are sent to a freebie account which I do in fact
read, but its not my 'main'.

4) I'm sure I don't need to mention this, but if you do get junk mail
which offers to take you off their list by simply sending them an e-mail
request, don't do it - that's how the validate that the address they
were blindly sending to is vaild, and they can then charge more for it
when they resell their lists to others.

That's worked for me for years now. YMMV, of course.
