If, like me, you are fed up with all the off-topic political,
sexual, etc. posts appearing in the newsgroups, then I suggest
that you direct all valid traffic to mail lists and leave the
trolls, bigotts, spammers, etc to the NG's where they can troll,
abuse, evangelise, indoctrinate and spam each other to their
heart's content. A quick search at:

www.groups.yahoo.com or www.smartgroups.com for "UFO" will
produce a variety of groups (many of them no longer active) which
should cater for everyone's tastes. If you don't see a group
already established that covers your topic, then create one and
place notices for it in the newsgroups.

The following lists I have found to be far more informative and
topical than any of the newsgroups:

UFONET
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ufonet
-an international forum covering a range of paranormal topics

UFO Updates
http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/updates/
-a moderated international forum, focussing on ufology.

ufologyinuk
http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ufologyinuk
-a forum which focusses on UK ufology.

UFO Research list
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UFORL/
-a moderated international forum, focussing on ufology.

I don't participate in the following lists, but they may well be
worth a look:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UFO_webmasters/
-a central location for owners of UFO and Space related Internet
Websites

http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/uaatp
-Discussions concerning UFOs, Aliens and the Paranormal WITHOUT
the Trolls and Debunkers found in the Usenet Discussion Groups

http://www.cropcircleresearch.com/maillists
-Focusses on crop circles. Registration is not neccessary so your
email address remains totally confidential. The mailist server
cannot be virus infected, all messages are guaranteed 100% virus
free.

http://mailman.efn.org/pipermail/skeptix/
-A sceptic list, but filled with some truly superlative posts,
eg:

I just wish I had the time to take part in it!

ufonewswire@yahoogroups.com.
The owner, Marty, has plenty of room for those who are interested
in posting and reading about UFOs, abductions, news items,
everything on the subject.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mysterious_World_Digest/
"Mysterious_World_Digest"
Paranormal/cryptozoology news group "Mysterious_World_Digest" ~
An open-minded forum that delves into the mysterious, unexplained
and miraculous world around us. Dealing in all aspects of the
fortean world, from the paranormal and ghosts to cryptozoology
(mystery animals), strange humanoid and creature sightings, UFOs
and anomalous phenomena worldwide. Fortean/paranormalnews posted
daily.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ufotruthseekers/
New group for open minded individuals to discuss UFOs and alien
life.
All opinions are welcome here. *Warning* - vigorous (but
personable)
debate, as well as speculation, theories, etc, is encouraged!
However
statements made as fact will most likely be questioned. There is
no
truth at this point, otherwise UFOs and aliens wouldn't be
mysteries.
Our goal is to find the truth in a factual way regarding UFOs and
aliens. So lets put aside our egos and start discussing!

Please add your favourite mail lists to this thread, and I will
add them to the list.

I will repeat this post from time to time, but that will be my
only participation in this quagmire.
