You're right, and they have absolutely no concern that we're becoming
extinct, except from a scientific POV.

And the fact of the matter is, human being (males)  don't have the balls to
desire extraterrestrial technology -- our fearless leaders couldn't stand
not feeling as if they're in control.  The technology would totally free the
world of disease, death, hunger or want -- and of course control over
others.
It would also make government, military and so forth obsolete.

And that's not something human males want -- they like to blow things up and
control stuff to feel manly.

Oh yeah, and play seekrit sam.  That's the best part -- that gives males a
BIG rush of manliness.
