Actually Sage you are mistaken on the point of Earth not being rare.
If you are not familiar with the search for Extrasolar Planets, SEE
snip <
See what ?? we are in the infant stages of planetary search. We do not yet
have the tools to discern Earth sized planets around other stars, mainly
because of interference from the star's bright light.
We will find huge numbers of rocky, water covered planets.
We will find life on most of them, providing they are in the belt where
water exists in two of its three states.
Chemical and atmospheric composition does not really matter; life is much
more adaptable then we can imagine at this time.
Why don't we start by not only counting our rocky planets, but also the
rocky/ice covered moons around the gaseous planets. Wake up people, we have
the universal model right here, and it is called the Solar System.
Sometimes I think you nay-sayer still belong to the Flat Earth society.
